TL;DR
There is no Schengen visa centre in Glasgow. Glasgow residents lodge in Edinburgh, about an hour away, for Spain (BLS International), France, Germany and Belgium (TLScontact) and every VFS Global country including Italy, Portugal, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden. Greece has no Scottish centre: GVC World means London or Manchester. Poland and Luxembourg take applications in London only, and Romania at its consulate in London or Manchester by region of residence. Our desk prepares the file and books the slot for £99; you pay the official fees at the centre.
Is there a Schengen visa centre in Glasgow?
No. Scotland's Schengen centres are all in Edinburgh. VFS Global, TLScontact and BLS International each run one there; GVC World, which handles Greece, has centres in London and Manchester only; and Poland, Luxembourg and Romania take applications at their London consulates. Nothing in Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dundee or Inverness. We verified the operator assignments on 24 June 2026, and if a Glasgow centre ever opens it will show at the city-selection step on the operator's site.
Edinburgh is a good city to have as your centre. It is one of only two UK cities for the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden, and it is the centre Germany assigns to everyone living in Scotland. For France, Edinburgh works like London and Manchester: since 11 September 2026 TLScontact allocates appointments automatically rather than showing a calendar, so you register and wait for an emailed date. The journey from Glasgow is short, and it happens once.

Edinburgh in the numbers
The European Commission publishes 2025 figures by consulate, and the Edinburgh consulates that decide their own files show lower refusal rates than their London and Manchester counterparts: Spain refused 2.2 percent of 17,180 applications in Edinburgh, against 5.9 percent in London and 8.0 percent in Manchester; Germany refused 1.2 percent of 1,798 in Edinburgh against 3.3 percent in London. France decides every UK application in London whichever centre took it, so there is no Edinburgh figure for France.
The data gives counts, not reasons. It cannot say whether the gap lies in the consulates or in the files Scottish applicants bring, and it is not a reason for anyone outside Scotland to lodge in Edinburgh: Spain's London consulate lists proof of residence in its district among its documents, and Germany assigns the centre by address. For a Glasgow resident it is simply good news, and a reason to bring a complete file to the consulate that already decides your area. See Schengen visa refusal rates from the UK.
Greece from Glasgow
Greece is the one common destination with no Scottish centre. GVC World runs London and Manchester, and the Greek consulate in London decides every UK application. Register on the GVC UK site, choose a city, take a slot from the live calendar and prepay the £25.50 service fee online; the appointment is confirmed only when the payment clears. Manchester is roughly three and a half hours from Glasgow by train and London roughly four and a half to five, or a short flight. Greece's two centres fill quickly from late spring, and its 2025 refusal rate at UK consulates was 24.6 percent, so a Greece file from Glasgow should be complete before the journey is booked. See Greece visa appointments in the UK and Greece visa from the UK.
Getting there and what to allow
Our sources do not record journey times, so these are loose: Glasgow to Edinburgh is roughly an hour by train, with services through the day; Glasgow to Manchester roughly three and a half hours; Glasgow to London roughly four and a half to five, or a flight. Check times for the day you book, and allow around an hour at the centre, most of it queuing and document checks.
One visit does it for every country except Romania. Choose courier return at the counter and the passport comes back to Glasgow once the decision is made; collection means a second trip to Edinburgh. Romania requires collection in person at the consulate where you lodged, London or Manchester. Children under 12 do not give fingerprints but attend for the photo.
Steps
- Settle the country under the main-destination rule: the country with the most nights, or the first entered if equal. See which country to apply to.
- Create the account on the operator's official UK site in your own name, and complete any consulate form that comes first: France-Visas for France, the Spain form inside the BLS flow, UDI's portal for Norway, ApplyVisa for Denmark.
- Select Edinburgh and take a slot from the live calendar. For Greece, choose London or Manchester on the GVC site and prepay.
- Prepare the file at home: the standard Schengen document set, built with the checklist generator and assembled with the Bundler and Compressor.
- Travel once for biometrics, pay the official fees at the centre, and choose courier return.
Processing is 15 calendar days from the appointment as standard, up to 45 in some cases, and applications are accepted up to 6 months before travel. The appointment is usually the longer wait; see Schengen visa appointments in Edinburgh and the appointment availability index for the earliest slot our desk has seen.
What it costs from Glasgow
The consulate fee is 90 euros for an adult, about 81 pounds, 45 euros for children aged 6 to 11 and nothing under 6. The centre fee is from nothing for Poland, Luxembourg and Romania to about 45 pounds, paid at the centre, with Spain's BLS fee at £14.85 and the Netherlands' VFS fee at £18. Add travel insurance with at least 30,000 euros of medical cover and the train fare. Price the whole application with the cost calculator.
Prepared in Glasgow, lodged in Edinburgh
Our desk prepares the whole application for a flat £99 service fee, any country: the form and any portal step, the document pack to the consulate's checklist, and the appointment on the operator's official system in your own name, in Edinburgh, or in London or Manchester for Greece. The file is ready within 24 hours of your complete documents and details, and the appointment booked within 3 working days of a complete file, subject to availability, or the fee back. Full refund before work starts. You make the journey once, pay the official fees at the centre, and the consulate alone decides. Start at the plan step, or read what the Schengen visa service does and does not include. For the country most Glasgow applicants ask about, see the Spain visa service.

Common questions
- 01
Is there a Schengen visa centre in Glasgow?
No. On the operator assignments we verified on 24 June 2026, Scotland's Schengen centres are all in Edinburgh: VFS Global, TLScontact and BLS International each run one there. GVC World, which handles Greece, has centres in London and Manchester only, and Poland, Luxembourg and Romania take applications at their London consulates. If a Glasgow centre opens, it will appear at the city-selection step on the operator's site.
- 02
Which countries can I apply for in Edinburgh?
Spain through BLS International; France, Germany and Belgium through TLScontact; and every VFS Global country: Italy, Portugal, Switzerland, Austria, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Czechia, Hungary, Croatia, Malta, Slovenia, Slovakia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Bulgaria. For the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden, Edinburgh and London are the only two UK cities. Not Greece, and not Poland, Luxembourg or Romania (Romania's consulates are in London and Manchester).
- 03
How do I apply for a Greece visa from Glasgow?
Through GVC World in London or Manchester; there is no Scottish centre. Register on the GVC UK site, pick the city, take a slot and prepay the £25.50 service fee online, which is what holds the slot. Manchester is roughly three and a half hours from Glasgow by train and London roughly four and a half to five, or a flight. One visit does it: choose courier return at the counter.
- 04
Does Edinburgh refuse fewer applications?
The European Commission's 2025 figures show lower refusal rates at the Edinburgh consulates that decide their own files: Spain refused 2.2 percent of 17,180 applications in Edinburgh against 5.9 percent in London and 8.0 percent in Manchester, and Germany 1.2 percent in Edinburgh against 3.3 percent in London. The data gives counts, not reasons, so it cannot say whether the gap lies in the consulates or in the files. Lodge where you live, with a complete file.
- 05
Can an agent in Glasgow book my Schengen appointment?
An agent can prepare your file and book the appointment on the operator's official system for Edinburgh, or London or Manchester for Greece, which is what our desk does for a 99 pound service fee. No agent can create a Glasgow appointment, because there is no centre, and no agent can guarantee a date, because slots are released in batches and consulates have voided bot-booked and resold appointments.
