We do not provide immigration advice

findmyvisa.co.uk publishes general information and provides document tools. It is not regulated by the IAA. Here's what that means in practice.

Last updated

The short version

findmyvisa.co.uk provides:

  • Browser-based document tools (bundler, compressor, checklist generator)
  • General information about UK visa routes, fees, requirements and processes

We do not provide immigration advice — whether on your eligibility, the strategy for an application, how to handle a refusal, whether to appeal, or any other matter that requires personalised professional judgment.

We are not regulated by the Immigration Advice Authority (IAA). For personalised advice, please consult an IAA-registered immigration adviser or a solicitor regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).

What is the IAA?

The Immigration Advice Authority (IAA, formerly the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner / OISC) is the UK regulator for immigration advisers. Under the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 it is a criminal offence to provide immigration advice or services in the UK without being either:

  • Registered with the IAA at an appropriate level (1, 2 or 3)
  • A solicitor or barrister regulated by the SRA, BSB or equivalent
  • Otherwise exempt under specific statutory provisions

This is why we are explicit about what we do and don't do. General information (what fees apply, what documents UKVI generally expects, how the upload portals work) does not constitute regulated immigration advice. Anything tailored to your circumstances (whether your evidence is strong enough, whether to switch routes, whether to appeal) does, and we won't do it.

How to spot regulated advice

An IAA-registered adviser will:

  • Display their registration number prominently (format: e.g. F202200001 — the F prefix denotes the firm registration)
  • Issue a written client care letter setting out scope, fees, and complaints process
  • Be searchable on the official register

Solicitors who provide immigration advice are regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority — search the SRA register to verify.

What we will and will not say

We will say

  • "The Skilled Worker visa fee is £719 from outside the UK." (general fact, sourced)
  • "UKVI typically asks for 6 months of bank statements." (general practice, sourced)
  • "The TB test is required from countries on the listed schedule." (general rule, with link)
  • "Use our bundler to merge documents in the order UKVI expects." (a tool, not advice)

We will not say

  • "You are eligible for the Skilled Worker visa." (eligibility opinion)
  • "You should appeal this refusal." (strategy advice)
  • "Switch from Student to Spouse before applying for ILR." (route advice)
  • "Your evidence is enough." (sufficiency opinion)
  • "You don't need a lawyer for this." (advice about needing advice)

If you've already had advice from us by mistake

If you believe a page on this site, or an email response from us, has crossed the line from general information into specific advice on your case, please tell us at hello@findmyvisa.co.uk so we can correct it. We will not have charged you, and we will not be relied upon as an adviser in any UK or international forum.

Reporting concerns about an adviser

If you've used a third-party immigration adviser and believe they're unregistered, charging unreasonable fees, or providing poor service, report them to the Immigration Advice Authority. The IAA can investigate and prosecute unregistered advisers.
