Sources
What we cite, and why
findmyvisa cites primary government sources for every factual claim. Here's the master list, what each is for, and how we use them.
Every fee figure, salary threshold, processing time, and named Immigration Rule on this site comes from one of the sources below. Inline citations on each page link directly to the relevant page on gov.uk or another primary source.
Our editorial policy describes the process. This page is the index.
Primary government sources
- gov.uk visa pages — The starting point for fees, eligibility and process for every UK visa route. Cross-checked weekly.
- Immigration Rules (Home Office) — The legal text underlying every visa decision. Updated by Statements of Changes, also published here.
- Visa fees — Authoritative current fee schedule across all routes. The figure source for our KeyFacts panels.
- Visa processing times — Service standards by route and application centre. Used for our 'Processing' KeyFact figures.
- Find an immigration adviser — Official Immigration Advice Authority register. Cited everywhere we recommend professional advice.
Parliamentary and statistical sources
- House of Commons Library — Migration briefings — Independent, non-partisan analysis of UK migration policy. Source for context on rule changes.
- Immigration white papers and statements — Background on the May 2024 white paper that shaped 2026/27 changes (Graduate visa duration, salary thresholds).
- Home Office migration statistics — Quarterly data on application volumes, refusals, and processing.
Secondary expert sources
- Electronic Immigration Network (EIN) — Long-standing UK immigration news and case law digest. Used for context and case-law spot-checks.
- Immigration Advice Authority annual reports — Regulator's enforcement and registration data — relevant for our IAA disclaimer language.
What we don't cite
- Anonymous "visa news" aggregator sites
- Social media posts (including Reddit threads — useful for tone, not for evidence of policy)
- Law firm marketing pages presented as definitive guides
- Other AI-generated content (we want to verify, not paraphrase, what others claim)
How we update
Each fee, threshold and processing time is verified against the relevant gov.uk page weekly. The "Verified · gov.uk · [date]" stamp at the top of each guide reflects the date of the most recent check.
For any specific page you're reading, the named author is responsible for the verification. Spot a mismatch with gov.uk? Email hello@findmyvisa.co.uk.
