Step by step

1. Register on uk-gr.gvcworld.eu. Greece is the only Schengen state using GVC World in the UK.
2. Choose London or Manchester. These are the only Greece centres; Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have none. Either can take any UK applicant.
3. Select a slot from the live calendar. Compare both cities each time you look.
4. Prepay the 25.50 pound (30 euro) service fee online. Without this payment the slot is not held. Confirm Greece really is the country to apply to before you pay, because the fee is spent at that point.
5. Attend in person with your file to give biometrics and submit your documents. The consulate fee of 90 euros (about 81 pounds) applies, and standard processing is 15 days after biometrics, up to 45 in some cases.

Two centres for the whole UK means Greece calendars fill quickly, and no one can quote a reliable wait time. What helps:

The Manchester centre

For anyone north of the Midlands, GVC Manchester is the Greece centre that matters. There is no Greece centre in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Cardiff or Belfast, so applicants in Scotland, Northern Ireland, north Wales and the north of England usually find Manchester the shorter journey, and London is the alternative when Manchester shows nothing. • Either centre takes any UK applicant. You are not tied to Manchester because you live in Leeds, or to London because you live in Reading. Book whichever shows a date you can reach.
• The decision is made in London either way. The European Commission's 2025 consulate statistics record all 36,089 UK applications to Greece under the Greek consulate in London, so lodging in Manchester does not change who reads the file or how long it takes.
• A rejection at the Manchester counter costs more for anyone who has travelled from Scotland or the north-east. Two official statements from 2026 are worth reading before paying anyone for a slot. The German Embassy in London, moving its appointments to a waiting list, wrote that "it is NOT necessary to engage an agency to process your visa application or to file documents" and that the list exists "to protect visa applicants from fraudulent and expensive appointment booking agencies".
