The numbers first
Typical prices, checked against fare and hotel aggregators in August 2026. These are "from" ranges for planning, not fixed quotes:
| Item | Typical price | In AED (approx) |
|---|---|---|
| Dubai to Athens return | from AED 1,000 to 1,715 | 1,000 to 1,715 |
| Ferry Piraeus to Paros, conventional, each way | EUR 40.50 to 51 | 174 to 219 |
| Athens budget hotel, per night | USD 72 to 102 | 264 to 375 |
| Paros budget hotel, per night (low or shoulder season) | USD 36 to 91 | 132 to 334 |
| Schengen visa official fees (adult) | EUR 90 + AED 88 | about 476 |
Seven days per person sharing, excluding food: roughly AED 2,000 to 3,300 in low or shoulder season. We could not verify a reliable daily food figure for Greece, so budget that line yourself; tavernas away from the waterfront are the affordable route.
Day by day
- Day 1: land in Athens, evening in Plaka and Monastiraki. Sleep in Athens.
- Day 2: Acropolis early (buy the timed ticket online), museum in the afternoon.
- Day 3: morning Blue Star ferry from Piraeus to Paros (about 4 hours), evening in Parikia old town.
- Day 4: rent wheels or use the local KTEL bus: Naoussa, Kolymbithres beach.
- Day 5: Lefkes village and the island's east beaches.
- Day 6: ferry back, sunset from Lycabettus hill, last Athens night.
- Day 7: fly home.
Prefer Santorini? Conventional ferries run from about EUR 46.50 each way and the same plan works, but hotels cost more at every tier. Paros gives the same Cyclades views for less.
The visa, without an agency
Apply through Greece because you spend the most nights there. VFS Global handles Greece in Dubai and Abu Dhabi; the consulate fee is €90 and VFS's own one-pager states an AED 88 service fee (the Greek MFA page still shows AED 80). Standard processing is 15 calendar days after biometrics, so apply about 2 months before you fly. The full UAE process is in our UAE application hub.
Dubai agencies charge around AED 850 to do the paperwork. We do it for £69, about AED 345: forms completed, document pack matched to the Greek consulate's checklist, appointment plan for your emirate, prepared within 24 hours of receiving your documents or your fee back.
