Which consulate reads your file

Portugal is unusual among the big destinations in having two consulates deciding UK applications. Files lodged in London go to the London consulate; files lodged in Manchester go to the Manchester consulate; files lodged in Edinburgh are sent to VFS Manchester first and then to the Manchester consulate, which can add about two days. The European Commission's 2025 figures show the two posts refusing at different rates: London 5.7 percent of 14,317 applications, Manchester 10.6 percent of 6,698.
