Schengen Visa from Leeds: Where to Apply and How (2026)

Leeds has no Schengen visa centre. Our £99 desk prepares the file and books Manchester for most countries, London for the rest: the city for each country.

TL;DR

There is no Schengen visa centre in Leeds. Leeds residents lodge in Manchester for most countries (Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Greece and more), about an hour away, and in London for the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden and for Poland and Luxembourg; Romania lodges at its consulate in London or Manchester by region of residence. The file is prepared at home; the journey is for biometrics, once. Our desk prepares the file and books the Manchester or London slot for £99; you pay the official fees at the centre.

Is there a Schengen visa centre in Leeds?

No. The four operators that run UK Schengen centres, VFS Global, TLScontact, BLS International and GVC World, work from London, Manchester and Edinburgh, plus Cardiff for Lithuania, and the three countries that take applications directly, Poland, Luxembourg and Romania, do so at their own consulates: London for Poland and Luxembourg, London or Manchester by region for Romania. Nothing in Leeds, Bradford, Sheffield, York or Hull. We verified the operator assignments on 24 June 2026; if a Yorkshire centre ever opens it will show at the city-selection step on the operator's site. Until then, anyone advertising a "Leeds Schengen appointment" is not describing the official system.

What Leeds does have is the whole of the preparation. The form, the bookings, the bank statements, the employer letter, the insurance and the cover letter are all done at your desk or ours. The visa centre visit is for fingerprints, a photo and handing over the file, and it happens once.

Two countries have rules about which city you may use. Germany assigns the centre by where you live: London and Manchester serve England, Wales and Northern Ireland, Edinburgh serves Scotland, so a Leeds resident uses Manchester or London. France states there is no consular area inside the UK, so any of its three centres is open to you; there is no France calendar at any of them, because TLScontact allocates appointments automatically, at London and Manchester since 1 August 2026 and at Edinburgh since 11 September 2026, emailing a date that must be paid for within 12 hours. Spain lets you book any BLS city, but the London consulate lists proof of residence in its district among its documents, so Manchester is the natural choice from Leeds.

Which city when you have a choice

For most countries a Leeds applicant can lodge in Manchester, London or Edinburgh, and the choice comes down to the slot and the journey. Open all the cities your country offers before giving up on a date: slots release in batches, and a full Manchester calendar does not mean London's is. The Manchester, London and Edinburgh guides list each city's centres, and the appointment availability index shows the earliest slot our desk has seen for each destination.

The European Commission publishes 2025 refusal rates by consulate, and they differ by city: Spain refused 2.2 percent in Edinburgh, 5.9 percent in London and 8.0 percent in Manchester; Portugal 5.7 percent in London and 10.6 percent in Manchester; Germany 1.2 percent in Edinburgh and 3.3 percent in London. The data gives counts, not reasons, and it cannot say whether the gap lies in the consulates or in the files they receive. It is a reason to lodge a complete file, not a reason to lodge far from home; see Schengen visa refusal rates from the UK.

Getting there and what to allow

Our sources do not record journey times, so these are loose: Leeds to Manchester is roughly an hour by train, Leeds to London roughly two to two and a half hours, Leeds to Edinburgh roughly three. Check times for the day you book, arrive a little early, and allow around an hour at the centre, most of it queuing and document checks rather than the biometrics themselves.

One visit does it for every country except Romania. At the counter choose courier return and the passport comes back to Leeds once the decision is made; collection means a second trip. Romania requires you to return in person to the consulate where you lodged, London or Manchester, to collect the passport, so a Romania file means two journeys. Children under 12 do not give fingerprints but must attend for the photo.

Steps

  1. Settle the country under the main-destination rule: the country with the most nights, or the first entered if equal. See which country to apply to.
  2. Create the account on the operator's official UK site in your own name, and complete any consulate form that comes first (France-Visas for France; the Spain form inside the BLS flow; e-Konsulat, eViza or an email for the three direct countries).
  3. Pick the city from the table and take a slot from the live calendar, or join the queue where one runs.
  4. Prepare the file at home: the standard Schengen document set, built with the checklist generator and assembled with the Bundler and Compressor.
  5. Travel once for biometrics, pay the official fees at the centre, and choose courier return.

Processing is 15 calendar days from the appointment as standard, up to 45 in some cases, and applications are accepted up to 6 months before travel. The appointment is usually the longer wait; see getting a Schengen appointment in the UK.

What it costs from Leeds

The consulate fee is 90 euros for an adult, about 81 pounds, 45 euros for children aged 6 to 11 and nothing under 6. The centre fee is from nothing for Poland, Luxembourg and Romania to about 45 pounds, paid at the centre, with Spain's BLS fee at £14.85 and Greece's GVC fee of £25.50 prepaid online at booking. Add travel insurance with at least 30,000 euros of medical cover and the train fare. Price the whole application with the cost calculator.

Prepared in Leeds, lodged in Manchester or London

Our desk prepares the whole application for a flat £99 service fee, any country: the form and any portal step, the document pack to the consulate's checklist, and the appointment on the operator's official system in your own name, in Manchester or London as the table above requires, or Edinburgh if that is where the date is. The file is ready within 24 hours of your complete documents and details, and the appointment booked within 3 working days of a complete file, subject to availability, or the fee back. Full refund before work starts. You make the journey once, pay the official fees at the centre, and the consulate alone decides. Start at the plan step, or read what the Schengen visa service does and does not include. For the country most Leeds applicants ask about, see the Spain visa service.

Common questions

  1. 01

Is there a Schengen visa centre in Leeds?

No. On the operator assignments we verified on 24 June 2026, VFS Global, TLScontact, BLS International and GVC World run UK Schengen centres in London, Manchester and Edinburgh, with VFS adding Cardiff for Lithuania only, and Poland and Luxembourg take applications at their London consulates, Romania at its consulate in London or Manchester by region of residence. No Schengen country lists a Leeds or Yorkshire centre. If one opens, it will appear at the city-selection step on the operator's site.

  2. 02

Which city should a Leeds resident apply in?

Manchester for most countries: Spain (BLS International), France, Germany and Belgium (TLScontact), Greece (GVC World) and the VFS Global states including Italy, Portugal, Switzerland, Austria and Denmark. London for the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden, which use London and Edinburgh only, and for Poland and Luxembourg, which take applications in London only; Romania lodges at its consulate in London or Manchester by region of residence. For Germany, where you live decides the centre, and Leeds falls under London and Manchester.

  3. 03

Can I apply for a Spain visa from Leeds?

Yes, through BLS International in Manchester, about an hour from Leeds by train, or in London or Edinburgh if that is where the slots are and the consulate accepts you. Spain publishes a different 2025 refusal rate for each UK consulate, 2.2 percent in Edinburgh, 5.9 percent in London and 8.0 percent in Manchester, but the London consulate lists proof of residence in its district among its documents, so lodge where you live unless you have checked.

  4. 04

How long does the trip take and do I have to go twice?

Leeds to Manchester is roughly an hour by train; Leeds to London roughly two to two and a half hours. Check times for the day you book and allow around an hour at the centre. One visit does it for every country except Romania: choose courier return at the counter and the passport comes back to Leeds. Romania requires you to collect the passport in person at the consulate where you lodged, London or Manchester, so budget two journeys.

  5. 05

Can an agent in Leeds book my Schengen appointment?

An agent can prepare your file and book the appointment on the operator's official system for Manchester or London, which is what our desk does for a 99 pound service fee. No agent can create a Leeds appointment, because there is no centre, and no agent can guarantee a date, because slots are released in batches and consulates have voided bot-booked and resold appointments.
