Romania Visa Appointment in the UK: eViza and the Consulate (2026)

TL;DR

Romania runs no UK visa centre. You complete the application on Romania's own eViza portal, send the file for validation, and book an appointment only once consular staff mark it Valid. How the Romania appointment really works

To get a Romania visa appointment in the UK you do not start with a booking site. You start with the application. Romania takes UK applications through its own eViza portal, and the London post opens dates only to files that consular staff have already checked and marked Valid. No outsourced visa centre takes Romania's UK applications, so nobody sits between you and the consulate, and there is no centre service fee on top of the visa fee. The trade-off is the order: the file comes first and the date second, so a file that keeps coming back for corrections keeps you out of the calendar.

The seven steps

1. Get informed on the portal and check whether you need a visa at all.
2. Fill in the application online and attach your documents. A working email address matters, because the portal sends the decision to it, and a saved but unsent application is kept for 30 days.
3. Send the file for validation. Staff mark it Valid or send a request for additional information, which you answer and resend until it passes.
4. Schedule the appointment, which the portal allows only once the file is Valid, from the slots the London post offers.
5. Lodge in person with every supporting document in original and in copy.
6. Sign and pay at the counter. You sign the application form in front of the consular officer and pay the visa fee there. Not paying makes the application inadmissible.
7. Collect the passport in person after the decision reaches your email and your portal account.

Getting your files under the portal's limits

The upload rules are firm, and they are where most applications stall:

• 2 MB or under for each supporting document, in jpeg, jpg, tif, png, bmp, txt, rtf or pdf, with Latin characters only in filenames.
• 0.5 MB or under for the photo slot, far smaller than a phone camera produces.
• Documents in other languages: a translation into Romanian or English by an authorised translator is recommended.
• One application per person, including children travelling on a parent's passport.
• Do not use the browser's back and forward buttons inside the form.

A passport scan almost never lands under 2 MB on its own, so run it through the compressor before you upload, and use the bundler to order the set against the Schengen document list.

When to lodge, and what happens next

Lodge at least 2 weeks before your estimated departure and not more than 3 months before it. That window is tighter than the 6 month maximum general Schengen pages quote, so a trip booked far ahead waits before the file can go in. On the day, bring originals and copies of everything, and expect fingerprints to be taken unless yours are already on file from a recent Schengen application.
