TL;DR
An urgent Schengen visa does not exist as a product. The consulate's clock is 15 calendar days from biometrics, extendable to 45, and no add-on shortens it. What you can rush is everything before biometrics: the file, the booking, the choice of city. With 3 to 6 weeks to travel that usually works; inside 3 weeks it comes down to a cancellation. Our desk prepares the file within 24 hours and books within 3 working days, or the fee back.
What urgent can and cannot mean
The EU Visa Code sets the timetable, and it is the same for every Schengen country you can apply to from the UK. The consulate has 15 calendar days from the day it accepts your application, which is the day you give biometrics. That period can be extended to 30 days where the file needs closer examination, and to 45 in exceptional cases. The Code also says to lodge no later than 15 calendar days before you travel, and no earlier than 6 months.
Two countries tighten that further in our sources. Denmark can deem an application inadmissible and return it unprocessed if it reaches the embassy fewer than 15 calendar days before the travel date. Romania asks you to lodge at least 2 weeks before departure and not more than 3 months ahead.
So "urgent" cannot mean a faster decision. It can mean three things you control:
- A complete file today, so the first appointment is the only appointment. Staff check the file at the counter and an incomplete submission can mean rebooking a slot you fought for.
- The earliest date in any UK city that handles your country, not just the nearest one.
- No wasted days between the online step, the booking and the visit.

Do premium or prime-time slots help?
Every operator sells extras, and it pays to know exactly what they buy. In our sources, VFS Global offers prime-time appointment slots outside standard hours, TLScontact offers prime time and a premium lounge, and GVC World offers prime-time slots. BLS International's extras in our sources are limited to courier return; check its current price list for anything else.
None of these changes the consulate's processing. They change the hour of your visit and the room you wait in. If the only date that fits your trip is a prime-time one, paying for the date is a fair trade. Paying for "speed" is not, because there is none to buy. See Schengen visa processing time from the UK for how the clock runs after your visit.
Repeat applicants have one genuine shortcut: fingerprints stay valid for 59 months, so if you gave them for a Schengen visa in that window you may skip the fingerprint step, and some countries allow a postal or drop-box route for such applicants. Which UK centres offer that is not recorded in our sources, so ask the centre. First-time applicants must attend in person.
If you travel in 3 to 6 weeks: the sequence
The arithmetic is appointment wait, plus 15 days of processing, plus a margin for the passport to come back. In our experience this autumn, UK slots have been 2 to 4 weeks out. With a two-week wait that is 14 + 15 + 7 = 36 days, about five weeks. With a four-week wait it is 50 days, about seven. A trip six weeks away is therefore workable if you move today and a slot appears within a fortnight; a trip four weeks away needs a slot within days.
- Fix the country. Apply where you will spend the most nights, or to the first country you enter if the nights are equal. Do not apply wherever the calendar is kind: which country to apply to explains why that is refused.
- Complete the file before you look for a slot. Run the checklist generator for your trip, then gather everything: passport, form, photos, insurance with at least 30,000 euros of medical cover, bookings, bank statements, employer letter and proof of UK status.
- Do the consulate's online step first. France needs the France-Visas form before TLScontact will take you. Denmark's ApplyVisa needs up to 24 hours before VFS lets you book. Romania's eViza file must be marked Valid before any slot appears. Greece holds the GVC slot only once the service fee is prepaid.
- Take the earliest date in any UK city for your country. Most VFS countries offer London, Manchester and Edinburgh; Lithuania adds Cardiff; the Netherlands and Sweden are London and Edinburgh only; Greece is London and Manchester; Poland, Luxembourg and Romania are London only.
- Attend, then wait 15 calendar days. Keep flights and hotels refundable until the passport is back.
Two operator changes matter for anyone in a hurry. Since 1 August 2026, TLScontact's London and Manchester centres allocate France appointments automatically: you register, a validated application joins a queue, and an appointment is emailed to you to confirm and pay for promptly. If nothing is allocated within 60 days the registration lapses. Edinburgh still shows a pickable calendar. And from 1 June 2026 the German embassy has run a waiting list through TLScontact in London and Manchester, its stated reason being that demand exceeds capacity and the list keeps access fair. Nobody can jump either queue for you.
If you travel inside 3 weeks
Be honest with yourself about the numbers. You need an appointment within days, then a full 15 days, then the passport back. That happens when a cancellation returns a date to the pool, and it cannot be planned for.
What to do in the next hour:
- Check the live calendar for every UK city your country offers, at more than one time of day.
- For Poland, check e-Konsulat; dates come from that system alone and no third party can create one it has not released.
- For Luxembourg, email the embassy today; there is no calendar, and answering promptly is the only thing that moves the date.
- If your dates cannot move and no slot appears, the honest outcome is to move the trip. A refused or unprocessed application costs the 90 euro consulate fee, about 81 pounds, plus the centre fee, and neither is refunded.
We will not take your money for a trip the calendar cannot serve. Our booking promise is paused for any destination whose booking system shows no appointments at all, and the plan step tells you so before you pay.
What our desk promises, and what it does not
For a flat £99 service fee, any country, we prepare the forms and the document pack and book the appointment. You pay the consulate fee and the centre fee at the centre; we tell you the exact amounts and never add to them.
| We promise | We do not promise |
|---|---|
| File ready within 24 hours of your complete documents and details, or the fee back | A particular appointment date; the centre releases slots and nobody controls them |
| Appointment booked within 3 working days of a complete file, or the fee back | A faster consulate decision; the 15-day clock is the consulate's |
| Full refund if you cancel before work starts | The outcome; the consulate alone decides, and we never refund on a refusal |
| Booking on the operator's official system, no bots, no resold slots | A visit you can skip; biometrics are given in person |
A warning about "guaranteed" slots
Scarcity has created a grey market in resold and bot-booked appointments. Several Schengen consulates have moved against these and void them, which leaves you with no appointment and no refund at the worst moment. The German embassy's waiting list and TLScontact's automatic allocation exist so that nobody buys their way past other applicants. Any agent promising a "guaranteed" or "next-day" Schengen slot in the UK is describing something the official systems do not sell. Book on the official system, or use a service that does so transparently. The wider tactics are in getting a Schengen appointment in the UK.

Common questions
- 01
Can I get an urgent Schengen visa from the UK?
Not in the sense of a faster decision. The EU Visa Code gives the consulate 15 calendar days from the day your application is accepted at biometrics, extendable to 30 and in exceptional cases 45. No centre add-on and no agent changes that. What you can compress is the time before biometrics: having the file complete, booking the earliest date in any UK city for your country, and not being turned away at the counter for a missing document.
- 02
Is there a next-day Schengen visa appointment in the UK?
Only if the live calendar happens to show one, usually because someone cancelled. Nobody sells a next-day slot legitimately. VFS Global, TLScontact, BLS International and GVC World release appointments in batches, and consulates have voided appointments booked through bots or resellers. Since 1 August 2026 TLScontact's London and Manchester centres allocate France appointments automatically from a queue, so there is no calendar to refresh there at all.
- 03
Do prime-time or premium slots speed up the decision?
No. VFS Global, TLScontact and GVC World sell prime-time appointments outside standard hours, and TLScontact also sells a premium lounge. They change the comfort and timing of your visit, not the consulate's processing, which still runs 15 calendar days from biometrics. If a prime-time slot is the only date that fits, it can be worth paying for the date; it is never worth paying for speed it does not deliver.
- 04
Can I walk into a UK visa centre without an appointment?
Our sources do not record any UK Schengen centre that takes walk-ins for a first application, and Estonia's ministry states outright that there is no postal or walk-in route. Every operator page we cite works by appointment. If a centre's own site says otherwise for your country, follow that page, but do not travel on the assumption.
- 05
What if my trip is less than three weeks away?
The Visa Code says to apply no later than 15 calendar days before travel, Denmark can return an application that reaches the embassy inside that window unprocessed, and Romania asks for at least two weeks. So you need a slot within days, which happens when cancellations return dates to the pool but cannot be relied on. Check every UK city for your country today; if the arithmetic does not work, moving the trip is the honest answer, and we will tell you so before you pay.
