TL;DR

If you live in the UK on a passport that needs a visa for Turkey, you may not need the consulate at all. Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Nepalese, Filipino and Afghan passport holders can get a single-entry e-Visa for a 30-day stay on www.evisa.gov.tr if they hold a valid UK residence permit or a valid Schengen, US, UK or Irish visa. You pay the fee on the portal. British citizens need no visa.

Who does not need a visa for Turkey

British citizens travel to Turkey for up to 90 days in any 180-day period for tourism or business without a visa. That is the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs' own wording on its visa information page, and gov.uk says the same. Your passport must expire at least 150 days after you arrive. If you hold a British citizen passport there is nothing to apply for, and nothing for us to sell.

The same page lists other passports living in the UK that travel visa-free: Irish, American, Canadian and Australian (90 days in any 180), Saudi and Emirati (the same), Malaysian, Brazilian, Colombian, Ukrainian, Moroccan, Tunisian and Iranian (90 days), Jordanian and Lebanese (90 days in six months), Russian (60 days), Thai (30 days), and Chinese since 2 January 2026 (90 days in any 180). Hong Kong SAR passports are exempt for 90 days; British National (Overseas) passports are not, and need an e-Visa.

Who can get the e-Visa, and the one condition

The Ministry's wording for Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi passports is identical: ordinary passport holders with a valid Schengen, USA, UK or Ireland visa or residence permit may get a one-month single-entry e-Visa via www.evisa.gov.tr, provided they meet certain conditions. Sri Lankan, Nepalese, Afghan, Senegalese, Yemeni and Palestinian passports carry the same line. Filipino passports get a 30-day single-entry e-Visa on the same condition.

For someone living in the UK, the document that satisfies the rule is usually the UK residence permit itself. The Turkish Embassy in New Delhi spells out what counts: a valid visa or a valid residence permit from a Schengen country, the USA, the UK or Ireland. Used or unused visas are accepted as long as they are still valid on the day you land in Turkey. E-visas issued by other countries are not accepted as the supporting document, and you must show the document in original at Turkish immigration. Airlines are told not to board anyone whose document does not meet the rule.

Two age rules sit alongside it. Iraqi ordinary passports aged 15 to 50 need the e-Visa with the same condition; under 15 and over 50 are visa-exempt. Egyptian ordinary passports aged 15 to 45 need the condition and must also fly with Turkish Airlines, AJet, Pegasus, EgyptAir or Air Cairo; Egyptians under 15 or over 45 get the e-Visa without any extra condition.

The Turkish Consulate General in Los Angeles adds, in a note dated 18 January 2025, what "certain conditions" means in practice: a return ticket, a hotel reservation, at least 50 US dollars for each day of the stay, travel for tourism or business, and entry through an airport rather than a land border. Officers recognise sticker visas and residence cards. No official Turkish page yet says how the UK's digital immigration status is checked at the airport, so we tell every customer to carry any BRP they still hold and a printed view of their UK eVisa alongside the Turkish one. Our passport-by-passport table covers every nationality the Ministry lists.

Who must still use the consulate

Nigerian, Ghanaian, Kenyan and Zimbabwean ordinary passports are listed as required to have a visa with no e-Visa route, and so are Somali, Ugandan, Tanzanian, Cameroonian, Ethiopian, Sudanese, Eritrean, Gambian, Sierra Leonean, Zambian, Malawian, Syrian, Burmese and Cambodian passports. Those applicants start at the Pre-Application System for Turkish Sticker Visa at visa.gov.tr and attend the Turkish Consulate General in London. The Ministry suggests applying at least a month before travel. South Africans, by contrast, can get a one-month single-entry e-Visa with no condition at all. We set the two routes side by side in eVisa or embassy visa.

How long you can stay, and what your passport needs

The e-Visa for the conditional nationalities is single entry for a stay of one month, and it is valid only when the purpose of travel is tourism or commerce. Work and study need a visa from a Turkish mission. Across any visa or exemption, your total stay cannot exceed 90 days in any 180.

Turkish law (Law no. 6458) requires your passport to be valid for at least 60 days beyond the duration of stay: 90 days of validity at entry for a 30-day stay. The Ministry also advises at least six months from arrival, and says every applicant should hold medical insurance covering the trip. We ask for six months because airlines apply the stricter reading.

The fee, and where you pay it

The e-Visa fee is set by nationality and charged only in US dollars on www.evisa.gov.tr. The portal shows your figure once you select your passport, and you pay by card after the application is approved for payment. The Turkish Embassy in New Delhi says the e-Visa costs at least 85 US dollars less than a sticker visa. Fees are not refunded if an application is rejected. We do not quote a dollar figure here because the portal would not display its fee table when we checked on 23 October 2026, and we only publish what we have read on an official page.

Pay on the official site only. The Turkish Consulate General in London warns that unauthorised websites charge extra fees for passing on applications and that some have issued fake e-Visas. If a site shows you a price before you have entered your passport details, you are not on the official portal.

The steps on www.evisa.gov.tr

  1. Select your nationality and travel document. The portal tells you whether an e-Visa is open to you and what it costs.
  2. Enter your passport details, your arrival date and the details of your UK residence permit or qualifying visa.
  3. Verify your email address, approve the application and pay the fee in US dollars.
  4. Download the e-Visa and carry it with the supporting document in original, your return ticket and your hotel booking.

The Ministry says the online form takes no more than ten minutes. Make the scan of your residence document legible before you start: the Compressor keeps a clear phone photo under the portal's file limits.

Our £29 prepared-for-you service

You can apply yourself on www.evisa.gov.tr for the official fee alone. If you would rather have the form prepared with you, we prepare the application in your own portal account, ready for you to check and submit, within 24 hours of your complete details, or your service fee back. You check every answer, it is submitted on your say-so, and you pay the official fee on the portal at the payment step; we never take or enter card details. Before that, we check that your residence permit or visa meets the Ministry's rule and will still be valid on your arrival date. The fee is £29 per applicant and £29 for each additional applicant, up to five on one order, and we refund in full if you cancel before we start work or if we find the route is not open to you. The Turkish authorities alone decide the outcome; an e-Visa is permission to travel, and the officer at the airport decides on entry. Start at the plan step, or read how the service works on the eVisa hub. The service is sold by WayaNerd Ltd, company number 16269713.

Common questions

  1. 01

Can I get a Turkish e-Visa with my UK residence permit?

Yes, if your passport is on the Turkish MFA's conditional list, which includes Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Nepalese, Filipino and Afghan passports. The Ministry's rule is a valid Schengen, US, UK or Irish visa or residence permit, and a UK residence permit meets it. The permit must still be valid on the day you land, and you should carry it in original. No official Turkish page has said how a UK digital status is checked at the airport, so carry any BRP you still hold and a printed view of your UK eVisa too.

  2. 02

Does my Schengen visa count if I have not used it yet?

Yes. The Turkish Embassy in New Delhi states that previously used or unused visas are accepted as long as they are valid on your entry date. Two limits apply: the visa must be a sticker visa or a residence card, because e-visas issued by other countries are not accepted as the supporting document, and you must be able to show it in original at Turkish immigration.

  3. 03

How long can I stay in Turkey on the e-Visa?

For the conditional nationalities the e-Visa is single entry for a stay of one month, and it covers tourism and business only. Your total stay in Turkey on any visa or exemption cannot exceed 90 days in any 180-day period. The window in which you may enter after the e-Visa is issued was not readable on the portal when we checked on 23 October 2026, so we do not quote it.

  4. 04

How much does the Turkish e-Visa cost for an Indian or Pakistani passport?

The fee is set by nationality and charged only in US dollars on www.evisa.gov.tr. The portal shows your figure once you select your passport, before you pay. The Turkish Embassy in New Delhi says the e-Visa costs at least 85 US dollars less than a sticker visa. We publish only figures we have read on an official page, and the portal would not display its fee table on 23 October 2026, so we do not quote a number here. Fees are not refunded if an application is rejected.

  5. 05

Can Nigerian or Ghanaian passport holders living in the UK get a Turkish e-Visa?

No. The Turkish MFA lists Nigerian, Ghanaian, Kenyan and Zimbabwean ordinary passports as required to have a visa, with no e-Visa route, whatever their UK status. They apply through the Pre-Application System at visa.gov.tr and attend the Turkish Consulate General in London. We do not sell our service to them, and the plan step says so before anything is paid.

  6. 06

Do British citizens need a visa for Turkey?

No. British citizens visit Turkey for up to 90 days in any 180-day period for tourism or business without a visa, and the passport must expire at least 150 days after arrival. British National (Overseas) passports are different: they are not exempt and can get a three-month multiple-entry e-Visa.

What does your £29 Turkey e-Visa service include?

We prepare the application in your own portal account, ready for you to check and submit, within 24 hours of your complete details, or your service fee back. You check every answer, it is submitted on your say-so, and you pay the official fee on the portal; we never take or enter card details. We also check that your residence permit or visa meets the Ministry's rule and still covers your arrival date. £29 per applicant, £29 for each additional applicant, up to five on one order, with a full refund if you cancel before we start work. The Turkish authorities decide the outcome.
